On Saturday, February 22nd at the Nazareth Intermediate School, the NAIS Interact Club and the Blue Mountain Bassmasters hosted their first TBF Reel Kid’s Casting Contest. All students from the ages of 7 to 15 were permitted to compete for the chance to win a rod and reel combo, as well as, the chance to qualify and move on to the next level of competition, the State Contest at Cabela’s being held Labor Day Weekend.
The weather was beautiful and there was no snow in the forecast as 66 students cast their lines in order to move on to the next level. Members of the Blue Mountain Bassmasters were the experts and taught and aided all of the students as to how to cast and hit the targets. After the students practiced for a while they were then sent to be scored on their final three casts. They cast to a target from distances of 10, 20, and 30 feet and were scored as to where their lure landed. Everyone had a great time and learned a lot from their experience.
The following students will be moving on to the State Competition at Cabela’s: Caleb Johns, Andrew Falcone, Michael Allen, Liam Allen, Katelyn Welsh, Ashley Knause, Steven Kechula, and Cory La Duca. We would like to wish them all the best on their next competition.
A special thanks to the following sponsors: Blue Mountain Bassmasters, Cabela’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Mike’s Bait and Tackle, and the PA Bass Federation- District 1.
